Welcome to Let’s Bounce for SEND.
Let’s Bounce is a whole-school programme that leverages the incredible benefits of Rebounding – fun, rhythmic movement that boosts fitness, coordination, strength, mood, focus and overall well-being for every child.
This module is aimed specifically at supporting those children with SEND.
By combining fun movement on a mini-trampoline and thoughtful guidance, Let’s Bounce helps schools foster positive classroom experiences that empower children to manage their energy and emotions, so they can shine in the classroom and beyond.
The emphasis for this course is around regulation and providing tools for self-regulation.
There are 3 main areas where Let’s Bounce is really effective:
- Bounce into school – helping children to attend school through bounce sensory circuits as they walk through the door and they know that this first activity will be fun and help them to focus during the school day.
- Bounce breaks – helping children to manage their energy and emotions during class through anticipatory sensory breaks (or reactive breaks if needed) with access to the mini trampoline for a short, guided and structured bounce to help regulate energy & emotions and achieve better focus before returning to class.
- Bounce to de-compress – providing a short bounce class at the end of a school day before leaving, supporting those children who’s pent up energy and emotions during the school day can often result in outbursts as they leave school and at home.
It’s time to bring FUN into school – for teachers and pupils of all ages and abilities.
Designed and written by sports scientists and rebounding experts, with the support of SEND Consultants, School PE Leads and School Head Teachers, SENDCo’s and Teachers, we also understand how important it is for schools to meet the National Curriculum and to be able to evidence this. We meet more of the set targets than any other form of exercise, which then in turn helps pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities.
On this course you will learn the Rebounding vs Trampolining technique, health & fitness benefits of rebounding generally and more specifically how it benefits children those with SEND, how retention of primitive reflexes can result in children experiencing difficulties in school (or result in a SEND diagnosis) and how rebounding can help to de-activate the rogue primitive reflexes.
We will offer practical sessions with moves that are specifically recommended to use for children with SEND and how to identify music to complement rebounding sessions that children love to bounce to. These will cover Bounce into School, Bounce Breaks and Bounce to decompress sessions and we will explain how to build sessions that are Rhythmic, Repetitive and Reliable – the three R’s – to ensure a successful experience.
